HORSES CAN DRINK UP TO 20 GALLONS A DAY
A horse's body is 65 to 70% water and a 1,200 lb horse contains 98 gallons of water! Horses require 1.5 quarts of water per pound of dry feed. That's 6 gallons for every 18 pounds of feed consumed.
Normally, horses drink 6 to 20 gallons daily and foals drink 1.5 gallons daily. High consumption of protein or minerals, or high temperatures will increase water demand. On a hot day with intense activity, a horse can sweat 8 gallons daily. If a horse "goes off his water" and doesn't drink, or is deprived of water, he can suffer impaction colic (a blockage of the intestines by dry feed) or dehydration, both of which can be life-threatening.
WATER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NUTRIENT & THE LOWEST COST RESOURCE FOR YOUR ANIMALS!
