Blundstone soles are made from dual-density Polyurethane (PU). PU is a tough, durable, supple, waterproof material that contains more air in its composition then PVC. It is softer and more pliable, which allows the sole to be flexible. The rubber-like characteristics of PU provides grippy traction in slippery conditions. It will hold up to extreme heat without melting and extreme cold without cracking. It will also hold up to grease, fats and acids found around agricultural operations and commercial kitchens. PU is 33% lighter than the PVC soles found on many other boots. Under Blundstone's method of manufacture, soles are attached to the leather upper by the injection molding process. The leather upper wraps around under the foot and then it is put into a molding machine where the dual-density polyurethane and leather upper become one. Blundstone boot soles are molded using the dual-density process. The softer, less dense material cushions the heel while the harder, wear-resistant material is in direct contact with the ground. This unique feature, Blundstone's patented Shock Protection System ("SPS"), is proven to reduce skeletal stress by as much as 33%. It is this revolutionary process that makes Blundstones so extraordinarily comfortable and incredibly durable.
Blundstone's best seller is built with their revolutionary SPS technology, Weathersealed™ leather, Cambrelle footbeds, heat-sensitive heel cups and non-skid treads. With dual-density PU injection-molded soles, this is the ultimate all-purpose boot. Comfortable and tough, a great lightweight boot.
